Obesity gene causes diabetes
A study sponsored by ICMR, to come out in international journal Plos One (USA) on the world diabetic day, shows that people with myostatic gene are more likely to become obese and later develop diabetes.
"Indians are predisposed to develop diabetes ... They tend to have more fat in the body and less muscle mass, a though the body weight may not be in the obese range...,'' principal investigator Professor Anoop Misra said.
