In the meanwhile, taking a pot shot at BJP, Congress General Secretary Digvijaya Singh on Wednesday asked Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi to come up with a reply on whether Nitin Gadkari should continue in office or not. "Why is Modi silent on Gadkari's matter. He speaks on every national issue, but why is he not saying anything on this national matter. Modi should tell us whether Gadkari should resign or not," he said.
When asked to comment on RSS ideologue S. Gurumurthy's varying versions on giving a clean chit to Gadkari, Digvijaya Singh said the BJP leaders should better give their views on this matter. "You should ask this question to the BJP leaders. I have been saying this from the very beginning that Bharatiya Janata Party gave a clean chit (to Gadkari) before the whole country and media following Gurumurthy's statement. Now that Gurumurthy has taken a U-turn then why is the Bharatiya Janata Party silent? They should come up with their reaction now after Gurumurthy's U-turn," said Digvijaya Singh. "If it is scripted, it is a poor script," he added, when asked whether the whole matter revolving around Gadkari was scripted. It may be recalled here that RSS leader MG Vaidya earlier on Sunday said Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi is designing the dissent within the BJP over whether Gadkari should continue in office. Gurumurthy hinted on Tuesday that Gadkari should choose between his party post and his love for social enterprise. "I feel no party president should be in business. Perception about Nitin Gadkari is a political problem. I handled only the facts," he said in twitter. "I have clearly said that the media allegations on Gadkari is false (sic). If this is clean chit, I have given it," he added.
