The police in Bangalore have arrested Delhi-based software engineer Siddharth Choudhary, who, angered at his wife’s refusal to sign a joint home loan application, killed her on Monday by stabbing her eleven times.
The woman, Ruchi Choudhary, worked in Bangalore — also as a software engineer — for Foton Infotech Company. Siddharth, who was earlier working in Bangalore, had got a job in Gurgaon for the company Accenture.

Siddharth has a three-year-old daughter. They were married four years ago.

Siddharth had plans to buy a flat and wanted his wife to be a co-applicant for the loan. But, Ruchi was reluctant to sign the papers and the couple had quarrelled over the matter on several occasions.

On Monday morning, Siddharth came from Delhi and the couple again argued over the issue. Then the murder took place before Ruchi’s mother.

Police inspector K Balakrishna said the daughter was then playing with Ruchi’s father, who was on the ground floor.

“The couple was engaged in a heated argument, after which Siddharth stabbed her eleven times and murdered her. Ruchi’s mother then told her husband and others about the incident and Ruchi’s sister, in turn, informed the police. We rushed to the spot and arrested Siddharth,” the inspector said.

“There was a marital discord among the couple and they had almost separated. Siddharth had found a job in Delhi to stay away from his wife. But he wanted her to be a co-applicant in the home loan,” the inspector added.
