Mystery shrouds disappearance of an NRI who had come to pay obeisance at Harmandar Sahib on November 14 but did not reach his relatives' place at Rayya.
Satnam Singh Randhawa (48), a US citizen, had left for Rayya, 35 km from Amritsar, on November 14 evening. Since then neither his relatives in Rayya nor the Amritsar police have any clue about his whereabouts.

His relatives had approached the city police on November 15 and said Satnam who had come from the US was missing since November 14. The police have registered a missing person's report and are working to trace Satnam.

Gurinder Singh, brother-in-law of Satnam, who approached the police, told HT: "Satnam was living in the US for the past two decades and had come to India on October 25. After landing in Delhi, Satnam came to Rayya and lived with us for some days. On November 12, he left for Amritsar to pay obeisance at Harmandar Sahib."

In Amritsar, Satnam lived with a friend, identified as Satinder, who claimed that he had made Satnam sit on a rickshaw to bus stand for his journey back to Rayya on November 14 afternoon. Since then Satnam is missing, said Gurinder.

"We want the matter to be probed in right earnest as he was also carrying $3,000," added Gurinder. Talking to HT, Satinder asserted that Satnam Singh left for bus stand on November 14.

Besides registering a missing person's report, the police have alerted their counterparts in various parts of the state. They have also got printed posters carrying picture of Satnam Singh.

As per ADCP (crime) HS Brar, "There seems to be no kidnapping angle in it. We are working to trace the NRI and have printed posters carrying his pictures, which will be circulated at various places."

To a question, Brar said, "The NRI had done shopping at Hall Gate on November 14 and even handed over his phone to a relative the same day."
