"The CID has been given the responsibility of probing the Tehatta case. The CID investigates all allegations of police firing," said Vineet Goel, DIG, CID.
The Tehatta firing on November 14 put the state on the back foot, coming eight days after the Birbhum firing which left four villagers with bullet injuries.
During the short media briefing, the government drove home the point that it suspected a conspiracy in the two violent incidents in Loba (Birbhum) on November 6 and Tehatta (Nadia) on November 14.
On Friday, Sen also indicated that the government smelt a rat in the way video footage was made available by noon on November 14. The footage shows SDPO Sailesh firing his service revolver at a crowd.
Banerjee had earlier suggested conspiracy theories to malign her administration on a number of instances, the most famous being the Park Street and Katwa rape cases.
