As many as 125 orthopaedic surgeons from Delhi and NCR attended the first-ever dialogue on trauma management of the shoulder, wrist and hip here on Saturday.
The two-day conference has been organised by the Gurgaon Orthopaedic Society, a 13-year-old registered society comprising
orthopaedic surgeons in Gurgaon.
The orthopaedic society’s first trauma-related conference will focus on the advancements in trauma management across different age groups.
“Most of the orthopaedic cases are due to accidents and injuries. This is due to rash driving,” said Dr AP Singh, former president, Gurgaon Orthopaedic Society.
Lectures will be delivered on the fractures of neck, paediatric wrist injuries, wrist imaging, role of rehabilitation in trauma, optimal management of osteoporosis in trauma, shoulder imaging, acute dislocation of shoulder etc.
Dr Subhash Jangid, secretary of the society, said, “The treatment of such injuries depends on gender, body composition, lifestyle, profession etc of the patient.”
“Due to lack of exposure to sunlight, sedentary lifestyle, long and strenuous working hours, complications are likely to develop,” he added.
The society also launched its website, www.gos.org.in, which provides information on orthopaedic surgeons of Gurgaon.
The website gives information on common ailments related to orthopaedics.
“Some disorders are typical to geographical locations such as climate, food, standard of living. There are stark differences between the West and India when it comes to orthopaedics. Seeking treatment abroad does not do good as the condition may seem alien to the doctors there,” added Jangid.
