True to the philosophy of the art of Japanese flower arrangement, Ikebana — bringing together nature and humanity, The Delhi Ikebana International is not only hosting the 12th Asian Regional Conference, from November 21 to November 25, but will also be playing host to delegates from 225 countries all over the world for it’s annual exhibition.

To be held on November 23, the exhibition will be open to anyone who wishes to visit. There will be more than 150 innovative flower arrangements on display where the participating delegates will have the opportunity to showcase their creative expression.

Founded in the year 1965, the Delhi Ikebana International boasts of monthly programs of demonstrations and workshops by masters of the art from all over the world for its members, in order to keep the tradition alive.

“We don’t have a specific theme this year. The purpose of this exhibition is to let people showcase their talents and learn from each other. Most of the participants have been studying Ikebana for a very long time. This is our way of generating interest in the younger generation,” says Aruna Kirpal, Chairperson of the conference committee.

Apart from the exhibition, there will also be two workshops for the delegates conducted on November 24 by Mr Rishi Ootsuka, Head Master, Koryu Katabamikai School — an institution which has Ikebana traditions dating back to 2000 years.  It will be an unparalleled opportunity for the delegates to gain first hand knowledge of this prestigious art.
