"The police refuse to register a case even now," said the labourer. "For the past 20 days, I have been pleading with politicians and the police but all in vain. Harsimrat Kaur Badal, member of parliament from Bathinda, and Prem Kumar Mittal, legislator of Mansa, marked my complaint letter to the police but there has been no action on it. My daughter is only 12 and studying."
Harpal Singh, station house officer of Mansa city-1, confirmed that the police were yet to register any case. "We are investigating," he said. "It seems that the girl had gone along with her mother, who had abandoned her husband for some reasons."
"The police can't pre-judge anything and deny registering a case, especially when the complaint is about a minor being kidnapped for flesh trade," said SAD (A) general secretary Jawaharke. "SHO Harpal Singh even warned the complainant against approaching me. If the police failed to register a case, we will take the matter to the director general of police."
