“Restrictions on movement of commercial vehicles will be imposed on major interstate road passages. Adequate traffic arrangements have been planned to ensure proper movement of devotees and to maintain general flow of traffic,” said Satyendra Garg, joint commissioner of police (traffic).
Chhath puja, the prime festival of purvanchali community, will be celebrated in Delhi from 4pm on Monday till 7am on Tuesday. During the festivities, a large number of devotees will assemble on both sides of Yamuna River and worship the setting/rising Sun by offering water and taking bath. Main congregation points will be all along the Yamuna.
Other congregation points will include Purvi Ghat, Ram Ghat, Sur Ghat and Shyam Ghat in Wazirabad, Kudasia and Geeta Ghat near Chandgi Ram Akhara on Ring Road, Pantoon Pul in Geeta Colony Pusta, Rainy Well Shakarpur and IP Estate, Yamuna River Eastern and Western sides near ITO, Pantoon Bridge in Bhairon Marg and Yamuna Ghat in Kalindi Kunj among others.
