Joint Commissioner of Police (southwest range) Vivek Gogia confirmed that a PCR call was received at 11:50 am but the team that went to the spot did not find anything. Sources on the other hand said that the police team did not try to delve deep and returned immediately.
“By that time Ponty’s men had confined Hardeep’s men and took over the possession of the farmhouse. The police team that went there did not put in much effort to know the reason behind the call for police help and returned after talking to Ponty’s men,” a senior police officer said.
Sources said Hardeep rushed to the farmhouse after he got to know about Ponty’s men barging into the property. “Hardeep decided to inform police about the illegal activities of his brother. This suggests that the murder was not pre-planned, otherwise why would he call police?” a source close to family asked.
The source said the property dispute had not reached the court till now and their mother and community elders were trying to find an amicable solution to the issue. “There was tension in the family for the past couple of months. Efforts were on to find a compromise on the issue,” he added.
