Two days after Gurdeep Singh Chadha alias Ponty Chadha was killed at his Chhatarpur farmhouse in Delhi , Wave Infra-tech’s office reopened in Noida. But buyers and top management of the group stayed away.
Wave Infra-tech is the realty arm of Ponty Chadha’s business group, Wave
Earlier, Wave’s corporate office used to be abuzz with people thronging it to enquire and book property in the 152-acre Wave City, and the under-construction 4,500-acre Wave High-tech in Greater Noida.
“Hundreds of buyers and others used to come to office daily earlier. On the first day of opening of our office, after Ponty sir’s death, not even a single buyer has come. Even sales officers has not come today,” said a security officer posted at the corporate office.
Wave group’s Center Stage Mall (CSM) was opened on Monday, but it did not attract a good crowd.
At the time of cremation of Ponty, all big UP political leaders, who were considered close to him, sought to maintain a distance and did not attend his funeral in Delhi.
“We expected that both Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) supremo Mayawati, and Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav would attend his (Ponty’s) cremation. But they stayed away,” said a relative of Ponty.
Incidentally, Akhilesh was in Delhi on Sunday to attend another function. “Because of the controversies that Ponty’s courted and the sensational shootout that resulted in his death, no big politician wants to attract attention for his close ties with Ponty Chadha,” said another relative.
Former UP chief minister Mayawati, whose excise policy turned Ponty into a liquor baron and was allotted huge tracts of land for Wave City and Wave High-tech city projects, also chose to skip Ponty’s funeral.
