Talking to newspersons during his Shivpuri visit, Scindia said Jha's statements were not against him but directed at his grandmother, the late Vijayaraje Scindia, and father, the late Madhavrao Scindia.
"Since my grandmother and father were alive in the year 1960, which Jha has referred to, he has in fact targeted them and I myself would give a reply to the same," he added.
Scindia said his grandmother was one of founders of the BJP and played an important role in the party. Jha may shy away from his responsibility but "I would protect her dignity at any rate".
He said, "In fact, my family has donated land in the past for the running of some government departments and some other works. Shivpuri Mahal houses the IB office. Besides, there are other lands too on which government departments are running."
In reply to a question, Scindia asked why Jha did not raise the issue when he had been a journalist.
When asked if the Congress would be able to win the 2013 assembly elections without projecting its chief ministerial candidate, he said only state Congress chief Kantilal Bhuria was in a position to give a reply.
