Titled Khoj Dus Tak, the festival has collaborated with various art practitioners and the Khirkee community. “Khoj’s engagement with Khirkee — the location, its inhabitants and its surrounding areas, has given many artists the opportunity to facilitate creative workshops, events and research projects. It is to celebrate this continuous process of community engagement that we’ve organised Khoj Dus Tak,” says Pooja Sood, director, Khoj. The three-day event that starts on November 23 will give Khirkee community an opportunity to double up as artists, musicians, theatre artists and more.
Interestingly, the art exhibition will present a history of Khirkee, with old maps and audio narratives from older generation currently residing in Khirkee. Another exciting bit is Khirkee’s Khirkees, an exploration of views and scenes, both real and imaginary. Other projects include Khirkee Murals, where local artists will draw murals related to the changing face of Khirkee. For music lovers, there is Khirkee Raag, where Delhi-based band Tarik will collaborate with three local musicians to create an original song about Khirkee. With these eclectic and diverse elements, the festival promises to be a great art confluence.
