When they ran out of money, they found an easy way to make it -- extortion. The city police on Tuesday arrested two policemen along with their accomplices on charges of extorting money from motorists.

"We have arrested five persons, including two policemen, one BSF jawan and two others, in the case," said a police official.

These policemen, posted in neighbouring Rewari, in the guise of Gurgaon traffic police officials extorted money from drivers of commercial vehicles.

Clad in plain clothes, the duo had gone to Delhi for a party and on their way back they stopped at Leisure Valley Park. Here they stopped many vehicles and took bribes from the drivers.

A patrolling team spotted a car at an isolated spot behind a truck on the NH-8. The team members felt suspicious and knocked on the window of the car. On seeing the cops, they sped away.

The patrol team gave a chase and caught hold of the duo along with a truck driver at Kherki Daula toll plaza.

On investigation, it was found that the accused were extorting money from the driver.

Maheshawar Dayal, DCP (east), said, "A night patrol team spotted them extorting money from a truck driver. They took Rs. 2,000 from the driver and were demanding Rs. 1,000 more."

According to the police, further investigations are on in the case.
