MCG officials swung into action after the Punjab and Haryana High Court asked the government to remove all the hoardings that distract motorists and can cause accidents.
On Monday, posters and hoardings along the entire stretch of the Mehrauli-Gurgaon (MG) Road were removed. An enforcement team led by joint commissioner Anju Choudhary removed hoardings from the Central Mall, MGF Metropoliton Mall, City Centre Mall, Sahara Mall and other places.
"The drive will continue till the orders of the HC are not adhered to completely," said an MCG official.
Several such drives have been undertaken in the past too. MCG had to halt the drive in the wake of Diwali celebrations. At several places, the MCG has had to face stiff resistance. Also, removed hoardings have come up again on certain stretches.
Meanwhile, a DMRC official said that the MCG has no right to remove hoardings from Metro stations and an appropriate action will be taken.
