The trial of LeT operative and key 26/11 handler Sayed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal is likely to be conducted in the court constructed in the Arthur Road jail premises where Ajmal Kasab was tried.

The crime branch had on October 16 filed 14,676-page supplementary charge sheet against Jundal before the additional chief metropolitan magistrate court. While the magistrate court is yet to commit the case for trial, the authorities are contemplating to conduct the trial against Jundal in the court constructed within Arthur Road jail premises for Kasab.

Police sources revealed that after Kasab's hanging, Jundal will be lodged in the same cell where the lone surviving terrorist was kept before he was hanged.

"Whenever Jundal is brought to the court, the premises around the court had to be fortified by local police and team of Force One commandos. However, when the case comes up for trial, arranging the security would be an issue due to which the authorities are contemplating to conduct the trial in the court," said a police official on condition of anonymity.

As per the charge sheet filed by the crime branch, a native of Beed district of Maharashtra, Jundal is one of the key accused in the 26/11 terror attack case. The investigation has revealed that it was Jundal who gave instructions to 10 terrorists who attacked the city including Kasab. He had also taught Hindi to Kasab and other terrorists before they were sent to Mumbai for the attack.

The crime branch has alleged that he was also one of the trainer and planner of the attack and was stationed in the control room, which was set up in Karachi, Pakistan for monitoring the terrorist attack at Mumbai.
