The last time England were due to play a Test in Mumbai in 2008, Ajmal Kasab and Co struck terror in the city and forced its cancellation. Four years later, with just two days left for the second Test, Kasab has been hanged.
On November 26 four years ago, the group of terrorists had kept Mumbai hostage for two days. One of the places attacked was the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, where England were staying two weeks before the attack and were supposed to return to ahead of the Test.

The team flew back home before returning and the Test was eventually shifted to Chennai.

Four days before the anniversary of Mumbai's most horrific terror attacks, the death penalty on Kasab was delivered in Pune on Wednesday.

With terror groups from across the border making threatening statements, the Mumbai police and the Mumbai Cricket Association are taking no chances.

During Wednesday's practice sessions, there was a security cordon with an armed cop stationed at the entrance to either team's pavilion. 

“There will be additional security during the game. Plain clothesmen will be positioned around the boundary line and policemen will be deployed in the stands,” MCA joint secretary Nitin Dalal told HT.

The Mumbai police will be extra vigilant as the anniversary of the Mumbai attack coincides with the fourth day of the Test. Normally there are around 1200 security personnel on duty during international games. The number will go up by around 200 to 300 this time.
