While the police are tightlipped about the whereabouts of sacked Uttarakhand minorities commission chairman Sukhdev Singh Namdhari, sources said that he is not in touch with the police for the past two days.
Officials said since it is likely that he had concealed some facts, he is important to the investigations into the Saturday’s shootout in which Ponty Chadha and his brother Hardeep were killed.

“We allowed him to go after preliminary questioning. Now, the phone number he had given us is not reachable. We are trying to contact him from other sources,” a senior police officer said. Asking about the possibility of his arrest, he said “anything is possible” since nobody has been given a clean chit.

“He is a crucial link being an eyewitness. If he is hiding anything, action will be taken against him,” he said. Namdhari’s PSO Sachin Tyagi is also under scanner. Their accounts of the incident have mathced.
