With the IT sector making giant strides in the region, a lot of young entrepreneurs are exploring their talents to gain new heights.
The IT industry has changed the whole dynamics of our society and the ongoing annual IT conclave that kicked off at Hotel Mountview in Sector 10,
Chandigarh, is a testimony to that.
A 27-year-old, young entrepreneur, Samar Singla, while talking about his success said that he started his company in March 2011, with a capital of mere Rs.
2 lakh, but now has an annual turnover of over Rs.
An IIT Delhi graduate, who after completing his studies went to the US to work for a year, decided to come back and start his own venture.
His company, Clicklabs, who designs mobile applications for IOS (i-phone operating system), android and windows-based phones, has clients in 25 countries across the globe.
"It was difficult for me initially, as I didn't have a substantial capital, which I arranged from family and friends. But, I had full faith in my abilities and today I have clients from across the globe," Samar said.
"Initially, I acquired small projects from companies in Silicon Valley in the US, which is home to world's largest technology corporations as well as thousands of small start-ups and later started getting clients from everywhere," he added.
Samar's company designs two versions of each application, one that is free to download and another, which is a paid one.
When the IT industry in Europe is struggling, Samar's organisation is hiring interns from countries like Italy, Poland, Egypt, Taiwan, Columbia and Belgium.
Talking about his next agenda he said his organisation aims to make an application on the lines of 'Couch Surfing' (a common practice in Europe and America), which hasn't gained much pace in India so far.
"India attracts a lot of tourists every year hence we are planning to make an application, where people can share their details and offer accommodations on rent. Today, when everyone is available on the Internet, this application will provide a new source of income to people living in far-flung areas especially in Himachal," says Samar.
A year after his friend Chinmay Agarwal joined him as CTO of the company, he said they are now looking for investors so that they can expand their business.
