It's high time Mamata gets down to do the job she's been elected for
This refers to the editorial There are no takers for this
(Our Take, November 21). Though on the first day of the winter session, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar rejected the no-confidence
moved by the Trinamool Congress against the UPA government over its decision to allow foreign direct investment (FDI) in the retail sector, the move clearly exposes that party chief Mamata Banerjee is pursuing vindictive politics. Instead of indulging in blackmail politics, it is time that she gets down to the job for which she was elected and delivers on the promise of 'poriborton' in the form of an investment-friendly climate and transparent governance.Jagdish Saluja, via email
He should have been buried at sea
This refers to the report 26/11 butcher hanged (November 22). Instead of burying Ajmal Kasab, the lone Pakistani gunman caught alive after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, who was hanged to death on Wednesday, inside the Yerawada jail premises, the government and jail authorities should have opted for sea burial just the way the Obama administration did in the case of Osama bin Laden. This would have ensured that his grave or the vicinity doesn't become a shrine for his sympathisers across the border.

Now, Afzal's time has come
With the hanging of Ajmal Kasab, one wonders when the 2001 Parliament attack case convict Afzal Guru will be hanged (Guru next? HM to take quick call, November 22). Keeping terrorists like him alive will give an impetus to other terrorists to perpetrate attacks. Besides, this can be dangerous for India as there could a rescue attempt like the one we witnessed for Maulana Masood and the two other terrorists in the IC-814 Kandahar hijack case.
