Boris Johnson, the mayor of London, will lead a senior business delegation to India next week to promote London and enhance economic links between the two countries. Johnson will arrive in India on November 25 for a five-day visit during which he will visit New Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

Johnson is scheduled to meet major investors, top business leaders and senior politicians and explore areas of mutual economic benefit such as financial services, infrastructure, transport, higher education, sport and tourism, among others.

He will also address business audiences at various federations across the country.

While in Mumbai, Johnson will call on Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan. He will also launch a new carbon-based index at the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) jointly with BSE managing director and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan.

This will be followed by a seminar ‘London: Gateway to the World’, where Jonhson will deliver the keynote address.

Johnson will meet senior representatives of business and industry and visit Magic Bus, a London-based Indian sports charity.

Johnson said he was looking forward to his visit, adding, “This year has been an extraordinary one for London… I want to exploit the exposure [that the Olympics gave us] to attract overseas investment into the capital. The growth of India’s economy and its rapid urbanisation presents many mutual opportunities. My message over the course of this trip is that ‘London loves India’.”
