Bansal was busy with election campaign in Gujarat and had come to Ludhiana specially to file his nomination papers. He will return to Gujarat on Sunday.
However, after getting elected, Bansal said he would strive hard to make the BJP a better party in the district. "I will make all efforts so that the party makes a mark in district."
Bansal said he was thankful to all party workers for "supporting him and giving him an opportunity to work for them".
Eleven delegates have been nominated by the party to conduct elections for the district president.
Rajinder Bhandari, former president of the state BJP and senior leader, said the BJP was a unique party which had reached in the hearts of all people of the country. "The BJP has become so famous that even small children know about its achievements," Bhandari added.
