“The dip in temperature and smog have not helped in bringing down the number of dengue cases. Mosquito-breeding usually goes down during winter, which leads to a drop in dengue cases,” said an MCD official, who did not wish to be named.“Our fumigation activities are on and will continue till reports of such cases stop,” he said.
Most of these cases were reported from east, south and north Delhi corporation areas, while three more cases were reported from outside Delhi.
South Delhi Municipal Corporation has reported the maximum of 757 cases, while 625 cases were detected from north corporation area and 494 from east Delhi municipal area. Other cases were reported from NDMC and Delhi Cantonment areas.Last year, 976 cases were reported and five deaths took place. In 2010, a total of 5,994 dengue cases and eight deaths were recorded in the Capital.
