"The thrust of our operation is on providing further connectivity to commuters travelling by Metro rail. The new routes include connectivity from Hong Kong Bazaar to Iffco Chowk Metro station and IMT Manesar to Sector 29 metro station. We already have local bus routes from Railway station to Sector 29 Metro station and Prakash Puri to Iffco Chowk Metro station,'' said Arun Kumar, director-general, State Transport.
The four new routes that came into operation from November 21, will ensure connectivity between Gurgaon Bus Stand and Badhshapur via Sohna Bus Stand -New Court- Rajiv Chowk- Subhash chowk - Omaxe Plaza. Buses plying from IMT Manesar to Gurgaon Bus Stand will now travel via Hayatpur and Sector 10 A.
According to state transport officials, Roadways buses collectively make 500-600 trips in Gurgaon daily and earn about R3 lakh per day.
Besides, the state transport department has also started operation of 30 buses on five different routes from Panchkula to Chandigarh.
