After two incidents of drug usage on campus came to light, the IIM, Indore, appears determined to crack down on the practice. The authorities are now mulling the installation of close-circuit television cameras (CCTVs) on the campus. “The institute is determined to take steps and one of them could be the installation of CCTVs,” said its media in-charge Akhtar Parveez.

A decision will be taken as soon as the in-house probe committee tables its report on the latest case — in which three students were expelled after being caught using drugs at the hostel last week.

According to a professor, however, the installation of the cameras has started in hostels. The second incident of drug usage — the first was detected in February — has raised questions about the supply of narcotics at the premier institute.

The state anti-narcotics wing might investigate the matter, said a government official.
