A woman allegedly created a fake email account of her estranged husband and logged into the income tax website to download his income tax details, the police said. She also registered a new mobile number with the website to receive SMS alerts form the IT department. The woman took the printouts of the victim’s income tax returns to produce them in court for claiming higher alimony from the husband. More shocking for the victim was that his PAN card was reissued to another person, with his name but different father's name.

According to the police, Sahil Sigh (name changed on request), the victim, is currently paying Rs. 9,000 a month. The trial has been going on for the last five years. They have been separated for seven years and their 11-year-old daughter is living with her.

Singh, a resident of sector 56, had filed a complaint at the office of DCP (east) in August, seeking a probe into the incident.

The investigation by the cyber crime cell found that his wife was illegally accessing his income details.

Cyber crime cell inspector Suresh Kumar said, “The account was created on July 3 and last login was done on August 31. We have got the IP address of the computer used for the crime.”
