A 21-year-old youth was arrested on Tuesday by the southeast district police for allegedly shooting a 17-year-old girl and injuring her mother after they stopped him from urinating near the stairs of their house in Nizamuddin Basti last week. Zaki was arrested by the southeast Delhi police after he surrendered before a Bulandshahr court.

Zaki and his friend Javed, the main accused in the case, had opened fire at the mother-daughter duo after they prevented them from urinating.

Javed is absconding and teams have been formed to nab him. The weapon is yet to be recovered, said police.

On the fateful night, family members of the victim claimed that the incident took place after Sadmani had caught Zaki relieving himself near the staircase on the ground floor.

Sadmani asked them to go away, but Javed and Zaki did not pay heed to them. After that, they had an argument which soon turned ugly. The duo left after threatening the victims. They later came and opened fire.
