A 25-year-old man died and his relative was critically injured when they were attacked with knives by three youths following a scuffle at a wedding in southeast Delhi's Mithapur late on Sunday night. The police have arrested the accused: Vipin, 23, Raman, 21, and Raju, 21. The victim is Ravi Kumar, a resident of Sangam Vihar B-Block. Kumar's relative Rajender Kumar Shammi, 32, suffered critical stab wounds and he is undergoing treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre. A case of murder and attempt to murder was registered at the Jaitpur police station in connection with the incident.

A senior police officer said the incident was reported from Shakti Vihar in Mithapur where the marriage ceremony of Shammi's cousin Kuldeep was being conducted.
An argument broke out between Kumar and Shammi and the accused after the former prevented them from abusing and misbehaving with guests.

"The victims took the trio outside the venue and tried to calm them down. The trio, however, started abusing and beating the victims. Raju caught hold of Kumar while Raman held him as Vipin attacked with a knife. Kumar sustained serious stab wounds on his neck and abdomen. Shammi was attacked when he tried to save Kumar," said the senior officer.

They were rushed to a hospital in Faridabad where Kumar was declared brought dead while Shammi was referred to AIIMS Trauma Centre.
Raman was overpowered and beaten up by local residents. He was handed over to the police and his questioning led to the arrest of Vipin and Raju.
