"For the second phase, the party will privately inform the selected candidates and ask them to file nomination papers. The list will be declared after all candidates file their papers," said a senior Congress leader.
Friday is the last day for filing of nomination for the second phase, in which 95 seats will be going for polls on December 17.
After releasing its first list, the Congress had faced severe backlash. Several of its leaders have already defected to the BJP. Even on Thursday, the party witnessed two exits.
Sitting tribal MLA Bachubhai Kishori is likely to be fielded by the BJP from the reserved tribal seat in Zalod. Former legislator Madhubhai Thakor joined the BJP after he failed to get a Congress ticket.
The besieged party now appears confused even on the candidature of senior leaders like Shankersinh Vaghela and Narhari Amin.
Vaghela is eyeing the seat from Kapadvanj, since he had represented the Kapadvanj parliamentary seat earlier.
The candidature of Amin - who lost in 2002 and 2007 - from Gandhinagar south, is being opposed by the local leaders and party workers as he is a Patel and the seat is Thakor-dominated.
