The statement added that someone has created a fake twitter account on Friday under the name of 'Amit Thackeray' and have posted wrong information.
"We want to clarify that Raj Thackeray, his daughter Urvashi and son Amit do not have accounts on social networking sites - Facebook and Twitter," said Sachin More, a spokesperson of the party adding, "There are fake accounts created on their names. We approached the cyber cell four days ago regarding Urvashi's fake account while another complaint was sent on Friday regarding a fake account on the name of Amit Thackeray. We are also in touch with the cyber cell of the Mumbai police to delete the fake accounts created under the name of Raj Thackeray".
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Niket Kaushik confirmed that the complaint had been received and the fake profiles had been blocked.
The statement from MNS comes two days after a post by an unidentified person under the name of Palghar resident Sunil Vishwakarma had abused Raj Thackeray and 'Marathi manus'.
MNS men stated that photographs of Raj Thackeray are used in the fake profiles and his real birthday date is also posted on them to showcase the accounts as true. "We have taken serious cognizance of the matter. We do not want any wrong information to be broadcasted through these fake accounts," said More.
