President Pranab Mukherjee on Friday said that India needs grass-root leaders, who place people and their problems at the centre of the social, economic and political discourse, at the 8th Lakshmipat Singhania-IIM Lucknow National Leadership Awards 2011.

The leadership award in the business category has been conferred on Azim Premji and Vineet Nayar, whereas in the science and technology category, awards were given to MM Sharma and GPS Raghav. In community service and social upliftment category, Amla Ruia and Leela Kumar received the leadership award.
