St Stephen’s, one of the oldest hospitals in Delhi, on Friday opened its branch in DLF Phase III. This is the only centre of the hospital outside the Capital.

The hospital is likely to set up its centre in every district of the state. “There is support from the health ministry. The state government is trying its best to make all medical facilities available to the people of Haryana,” Haryana health minister Rao Narender said. 

The hospital in Delhi started off as a small dispensary in 1874 to serve the poor. It is today a 600-bed super-specialty tertiary care hospital.

Narender said the government was planning to open four medical colleges under private-public-partnership.
