Chaudhary credited measures taken by the PSPCL for the award. "We reduced losses by shifting 20 lakh electricity meters from the houses of consumers to pillar boxes, and by converting power supply from low-voltage distribution system to high voltage distribution system," he said.
Chaudhary said the power corporation also provided dedicated small-capacity transformers to reduce transmission and distribution losses. "PSPCL reduced transmission and distribution losses by 2.5% in two years. So, the jury selected PSPCL for the coveted prize," he said.
Chaudhary said PSPCL now aimed to reduce T&D losses to 15% by 2015-16. "To achieve this, we are upgrading the electricity infrastructure of 47 towns," he said.
