Senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader Kishan Singh Sangwan passed away at a private hospital in New Delhi following a paralysis attack early Monday morning. He was 64. Sangwan is survived by wife, two sons and two daughters. As per Sanwan's last wishes, members of his family donated his eyes after the demise.


The body was brought to his Sector-14 residence in Sonepat from where it was taken to Gohana for last rites. The mortal remains were consigned to flames around 3.30pm in the presence of a large number of people from the area and senior leaders from different political parties.

Chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, HJC supremo Kuldeep Bishnoi, state BJP president Krishan Pal Gujjar, Rohtak MP Deepender Singh Hooda, Congress leaders Sampat Singh and Raghubir Singh Kadian paid tributes to the departed soul. Hooda called Sangwan a mass leader, while Bishnoi termed him a leader who always raised the voice of farmers and people of his region.

Sangwan had remained a cabinet minister in the state government from 1987 to 1991 and was elected member of Parliament in 1998 as an Indian National Lok Dal candidate. At present, he was member of the national executive committee of the BJP.

Other leaders who paid tributes to Sangwan included Krishna Gahlaut, Ved Singh Malik, BJP leaders Kavita Jain, MLA, national secretary Capt Abhimanyu and Ram Bilas Sharma.
