Women cops deputed at Hotel Keys on the Pakhowal Road and Hotel City Heart, Sarovar Portico in city for the security of England, India, Malaysia, Canada and Denmark teams are facing a tough time.
One policewomen requesting anonymity rues, "We are working beyond the duty hours as we cannot leave the hotels till the time World Cup women teams remain in the hotel. But, we are not provided any kind of facility such as a room to change clothes, keep our stuff or alternatively sit down for some time to take rest."
They further add that even when they sit for a while after two-three hours on the sofas of the hotels, the hotel staff objects to the same and ask them to leave the premises, as the space is marked as guests-only.
The women complain of no proper arrangement of basic facilities such as: water or food by the organisers. The food, which these cops bring from home, is consumed and rest of the time they work on an empty stomach.
SDM Ajay Sood who has been assigned the charge of booking for players and overseeing arrangements says that he is just following the directions as well schedule given to him by the sports authorities. When the director (sports) Punjab, Shiv Dular Singh was contacted he said that the needful would be done for the policewomen immediately.
