He claimed that before her death, Paramjit had told him that she had been set on fire by her husband and in-laws. Taking circumstantial evidence in to account, the court took it as a dowry death and convicted deceased's husband and his parents. A fine of Rs. 20,000 has also been slapped on each of them.
Life term to two for murderThe same court also pronounced life sentence on two for the murder of a watchman in Bassi Kikran village in June 2011. Body of one Chhotu was found lying in the maize fields. on the complaint of the brick kiln owner at whose premises Chhotu worked, Sadar police had registered a case under Sections 302 (murder) and 34 (criminal conspiracy) of the IPC against co workers Ladda Masih and Soni Masih. It emerged that Soni suspected Chhotu of having illicit relation with his wife. The court imposed a fine of Rs. 20,000 each in default of which they would have to undergo imprisonment of another two years.
