A team of 150 engineers inspected the plant on Tuesday. The engineers and other senior officials of 85 municipal committees, councils and corporations of the state spent four hours at the plant and discussed ways to improve its treatment capacity.
“The plant is running successfully and there is a scope of improving its capacity. We inspected the entire operation and hope our engineers have learnt a lot,” said Saro, adding that in some cities the plan is already underway to set up more such plants.
Bandhwari plant is the only waste treatment plant in the state. It was set up in 2010.
Now, the Haryana government has sanctioned Rs.700 crore for setting up more solid waste treatment plants across the state by 2016. Besides inspecting treatment plant, the engineers also examined the waste disposal system of the Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon (MCG), mainly the GPS-fitted vehicles.
