In view of the deadline set by sarv khap jat mahapanchayat coming near, the khap panchayats have served a fresh ultimatum to the government to either award reservation to jat community or face agitation from December 16.
A representative of the khap mahapanchayat has claimed that if any
government, either the Center or the state, fail to announce reservation for jat community in jobs as well as seats in educational institutions, then they would block all supply to the national capital.
Sube Singh Samain, spokesperson of khap mahapanchayat said "Supply of all essential commodities like milk and vegetable would be stopped from all possible channels be it road or railways". He said that in this regard, a call has been given to the community and leaders of various khap panchayat under the umbrella of mahapanchayat, that has been mobilising support from villages.
Nafe Singh Nain, president of sarv jat khap mahapanchayat said on Thursday: "At least 100 youths from each village of all the districts should reach the railways points, national highways or link roads leading to New Delhi on December 16 to make a complete closure".
Notably, sarv khap mahapanchayat had declared to spearhead the jat quota agitation from Dinoda village in September and had issued a warning to lauch a stir from mid December.
Revealing the details of the stir, Nain informed: "Groups with the strength of 100 in number from each village would start marching towards New Delhi and assemble in old Rohtak (Jhajjar, Sonepat, Rohtak) by 22 December, while some of the leaders have been assigned the job of blocking NH.1 (Delhi-Ambala), NH.10 (Delhi-Rohtak), NH 8 (Delhi-Gurgaon)”.
During the Dinoda village meeting on Thursday, jat leaders said that till their demands are met, they would not budge from the agitation site and want to fight out the final battle of including the community in OBC category.
It is worth mentioning that the jat leaders had launched a similar agitation at Mayyar village of Hisar district in Feburary-March this year, which caused the death of a youth in police firing and unruly mob set a police post afire in retaliation. The agitation caused serious inconvenience to the people of Hisar, Fatehabad and Sirsa district as the road and rail network were suspended for long time.
