The Delhi to Noida carriageway on the Kalindi Kunj bridge will remain closed for repair from December 15 for a month.  After the work on one carriageway is complete, repair on the other —Noida to Delhi — will be taken up from January 15.  This was decided after several meetings between the Delhi and Noida traffic police.

The bridge serves as a vital link between Delhi and Noida and each day lakhs of commuters use the two carriageways to commute between the two cities. The closure may trigger traffic snarls, especially during rush hour. 

The PWD will repair the joints and rocker roller bearing on the bridge, which was constructed in 1984 and has never been closed for repair since.

Earlier, Delhi and Noida Police held a meeting and decided the dates for closure of the bridge — December 15 to February 15.
