While Shanno doesn’t work with the organisation anymore, two young girls — Chandni and Saroj — drive him around. “He is very sweet ... bahut achhe hain. He doesn’t think we are lesser than him. He always makes conversation and enquires about our well being. We make sure we are professional with him but hum poochh lete hain ki aapki kaunsi film aa rahi hai. It never happens that he doesn’t reply to something. Even if he is on the phone, he later asks what we were saying,” says Saroj.
“I remember the first time he came to Delhi after SMJ, I dropped him and I was very excited. Bahut achhe insaan hai. Humne photos bhi kheechein. Only four people have driven him. Me, saroj, shanno and shanti,” adds Chandni. “I was very nervous when I first drove him. I had to pick him up from Le Méridien and drop him to the airport. He came and sat in the front and he started talking to me ... So I told him ki maine aapki pehli film hall mein Ghajini dekhi thi aur unhone kaha pehli Ghajini hi dekhi,” says Saroj, adding, “When he comes to Delhi many companies approach him to use their cars, but he makes sure he uses at least one car from us. The windows are not tinted, so people can see him and they shout ‘Aamir’ and he always waves. He usually asks us to drive slow and maintain distance.”
