If you only use Facebook as a social networking medium that allows you to share personal photographs or post messages, it’s time to do a re-think. Update your profile with professional qualifications and you might get a lucrative job offer. Alternatively you can also hunt for jobs and use Facebook as a medium to advertise your professional credentials for companies.

Finding better jobs through Facebook has now been made possible by job portal Shine.com, a unit of HT Media, wherein through a tie-up with social recruitment platform MyParichay, both the company and the job seeker come on a common meeting ground.

The Shine MyParichay enables a recruiter to reach out to personal networks of their employees, match the skills and requirements to those in the extended network and use the referral feature to connect with potential candidates. The service, in effect, helps both a recruiter company and job aspirant meet on Facebook.

The total number of searchable jobs on MyParichay is a little over two million and number of searchable profiles is over seven million, growing at one million per month.

The MyParichay platform is currently being used by Genpact, Kotak Life Insurance, Quatrro and PeopleStrong among others.

“Our survey points that 65% respondents are more likely to use Facebook over LinkedIn for job search. With integration of Shine.com and MyParichay we can change the landscape of social hiring in the near future,” said Amit Garg, business head, internet business, HT Media.

Shine.com is a leading job portal with over one crore candidate database and over 150,000 job openings on the site.
