Rajeev Gaur, executive president of JP Power Ventures Limited, died after falling off a running train near Mandi Bamora railway station on Sunday. Gaur, 48, had tried to board Southern Express on its way towards Bhopal at Mandi Bamora station, but the door of the AC compartment was shut from inside and as the train picked up speed, he was forced to hang on to the coach by holding a door handle. He had asked for help from his private security guard, RC Gurjar, who found both doors of the coach locked from inside but the train had started moving by then.

For almost 8 km, he kept hanging by the door handle but fell down at Kulhar railway station, between Bina and Bhopal.

He was found dead at Kulhar station. His body was flown to Delhi following an autopsy. He was a cousin of Jaypee Group’s executive chairman Manoj Gaur and worked out of Bina.

“We have sought a report on the tragic incident,” railways ministry spokesperson Anil Kumar Saxena said in Delhi.

A Jaypee Group spokesperson did not wish to comment about the incident.
