Though the court accepted the prayer, but when the counsel requested the bench for a short date in the case, the bench said there was no such urgency as the accused had been languishing in jail and the police were conducting the investigation. The bench also said that even the girl was now in her parents' custody.
A Class-10 girl was abducted at gunpoint by Nishan Singh, a resident of New Harindra Nagar, Faridkot, and his three accomplices from her Faridkot house on September 24.
The FIR was registered on the same day at the Faridkot police station against Nishan. The Punjab police had arrested Nishan and rescued the victim from Baga beach in Goa on October 21.
However, the victim's parents had moved the high court, seeking an investigation into the case by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
The case would now come up for hearing on January 7, 2013.
