The quota in promotions bill is likely to be introduced in Lok Sabha on Tuesday. The business advisory committee of the House met on Monday and took this decision. With the session scheduled to end on Thursday, chances of the bill being passed in the lower House appear bleak.

It remains to be seen whether Mulayam Singh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party will allow the House to run.

The issue is more complicated in Lok Sabha than it was in Rajya Sabha, where the SP had only 9 MPs.

In the lower House, the government will have to deal with 22 SP MPs and Speaker Meira Kumar is reportedly reluctant to resort to any harsh measures against MPs.
