A militant was killed in an encounter with security forces in Sopore area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir on Tuesday.

The ultra was killed in a joint operation launched by police and Army in Sadhpora village of Sopore town, 55kms from Srinagar, a police spokesman said.

He said the operation was still in progress when last reports were received.
