Barely two days after a 23-year-old woman was picked up from the DDA Munirka bus stop at 9.15 pm and gang raped in a moving bus, things are back to the skewed normal in the area. At 7 pm on Tuesday evening, with not a single cop in sight, chartered buses and call centre cabs stopped to pick up passengers with impunity. A number of chartered buses that crossed the bus stop had tinted glasses and thick curtains.

A girl waiting at the bus stop approached this reporter to enquire if she had to go to JNU Campus. "I don't want to travel alone in an auto or bus. The bus (Number 615), in any case, comes after long gaps. I am very scared after Sunday's incident. I take the bus to the campus even at 10 pm many a times.

What has happened to her could have easily happened to me. What is worse that I overheard men question her behaviour. They were wondering why she watched the movie with a man and decided to return home at night. If this is the level of empathy in the people then how can we expect anything to change?" said the JNU student.    

For a majority of those waiting on the bus stop, Sunday's incident was the main topic of conversation, with many discussing how taking a chartered bus is at times the only option as the bus service is erratic in the evening.
