Meanwhile, police on Tuesday released Devesh’s father Gopal Sharan Singh, a retired government employee, for lack of evidence.
Raj said, “During investigation, it came to light that Devesh had escaped to Toronto. All the evidences show that the incident was pre-planned and he had come here with the sole intention of carrying out the murders.”
Raj said two separate teams of Patna police had interrogated family members of Devesh in Delhi. “We are on the job and hope to catch him at the earliest,” the SSP added.
City superintendent of police Jayant Kant said the Patna police had sealed Devesh’s two accounts with ICICI Bank and one with Kotak Mahindra in Delhi. “During investigation, we found that he had withdrawn R51,000 from a Delhi-based ATM after the incident,” he added.
The City SP said Devesh’s younger brother Omkar and his woman business partner had told the police during interrogation that the accused had recently visited Europe, Dubai and Singapore. In fact, he had returned to Delhi from Singapore on September 26 last.
“Devesh was brought up in Patna and he went to a reputed school in the state capital. He later shifted to Delhi to pursue business management from an institute there. He is married to Mausumi Panda, daughter of a senior government officer posted in Delhi,” the city SP added.
