Umesh Singhania, the media coordinator of the NGO, said strict laws should be made to prevent such incidents in our constitution. Media should also play its role to generate awareness, Singhania said. Police should hold self-defence training for women and girls, said Surjeet Kaur Rajpal, president, Punjabi Mahila Vikas Samiti.
Another NGO, Avhan, took out a rally from Vijay Nagar to Regal Square. They were holding torch, candles and banners. They raised slogans demanding justice for the victim.
About 150 students between age group of 17 to 20 took out a rally from Manorama Ganj to Regal square. They marched back to Manorama Ganj raising slogans.
The banners they held expressed more aggression. “Ab bhi jiska khoon nahi khola, woh khoon nahi woh pani hai (If your blood did not boil even now then it’s not blood, but water),” read the banner. Guru Harkishen Public School Class 12 student Rishabh Singh Baghel said he and his friends have planned to observe Black Day in the coming week.
