A youth allegedly attempted to rape a teenaged girl in city outskirts of this winter capital, police here said.
"Gian Chand, 28, a driver by profession, Saturday late night barged into the house of the victim and forcibly took her to the nearby jungle in the Gharota area of city outskirts," police sources here on Sunday said.

The teenager raised an alarm following which locals rushed to the spot. On seeing the villagers, the accused managed to escape. The girl on Sunday morning lodged a complaint with the police.

"A case under Sections 376, 511 of RPC has been registered and manhunt is on to apprehend the accused," police added.
