The Patiala police have nabbed a warder of Patiala Central Jail with 20-gram smack. Subhash Chand was arrested from his residence inside the jail complex with the contraband.
SSP Gurpreet Singh Gill said Subhash was posted at the Patiala jail since 2004 and was addicted to smack.

The accused developed contacts with jailed drug peddlers and after taking their guidance he started purchasing smack from outside for personal consumption, the SSP said, adding Subhash also used to  supply smack to some jail inmates.

He said that the accused told the police that another warder Tarsem Singh used to help him in passing on the drugs to the jail inmates. A case under NDPS Act has been registered and police would further investigate the case to nab Subhash's contacts, he added.

Meanwhile, the jail authorities have handed over an inmate, from whom 62 gram of smack was seized, to Nabha police. A case under the NDPS Act has been registered in this regard.
